Indigo is a new addition to the Grass Valley professional A/V product portfolio. It is an A/V mixer—a new product category that uniquely combines the essential components needed for mixing a live presentation into a self-contained, easily affordable unit. The Indigo mixer combines features normally found in separate devices such as event controllers, production switchers, seamless switchers, and audio mixers in a single powerful control interface that is simple enough for a single operator, while still providing the features and flexibility a seasoned switcher operator expects.
The Indigo platform seamlessly brings all the essential A/V sources together into a broadcast quality production:
- Computer and video
- HD and SD
- Analog and digital
- Audio integration provides audio-follow-video and automatic delay timing
The Indigo platform offers a complete feature set for synchronizing and controlling multiple analog or digital video and audio sources. When the High Resolution (HR) board is installed, it is designed to simultaneously process 15 video sources: 12 SD sources, one source scaled up from SD to HD, and two sources selected from HD video or computer inputs. It is also designed to up-convert to HD and down-convert to SD—even simulcast live SD and HD output.
The Indigo mixer also manages the mixing and timing of audio sources, ranging from unbalanced analog to AES/EBU signals. Supporting eight stereo audio input channels from a selection of digital and balanced or unbalanced analog sources, each Indigo audio channel has a four-band parametric equalizer and may be controlled by a motor-driven fader. The mixer also provides phantom power for four microphones.
There are two standard Indigo models: INDGO1-SD includes all SD channels with associated still stores, keyers, and DVE along with all audio functionality; INDGO1-HD adds the Indigo High-Resolution (HR) board with HD-SDI and DVI-I inputs, additional still stores, and all of the scaling capability. The HR Board can be purchased separately for later installation if desired.
