arrow Overview

The Trash plug-in from Izotope is a multi-faceted distortion processor. It contains various modules that range from distortion, through dynamics to delays.

The plug-in features 64-bit processing which results in tight precision and extreme dynamics. Processing history is available as is undo.

A preset manager allows for sorting patches by name or last used and adding comments to presets. One can also take part of one preset and assign it to another preset and update a preset with a single click.

Trash has multiple meter views and options that allow one to customize functionality, CPU usage and more.

Key Features

Multiband Distortion

The plug-in supports chaining pairs of distortion modules together for sonic destruction at 64-bit precision. The signal can be split into multiple bands and distortion applied independently to individual frequencies.

Overdrive:

  • 12AX7 tubes
  • 6L6 tubes
  • Transistors
  • EL34 pentode tubes
  • Tape saturation

Distortion:

  • Symmetrical clipping
  • Asymmetric limiting
  • Harmonic distortion

Fuzz:

  • A half dozen fuzz algorithms, from smooth germanium transistor fuzz to harsh silicon clipping fuzz boxes

Retro:

  • Classic lo-fi distortion effects
  • Bit decimators and aliasing algorithms
  • Wave rectifiers

Faulty:

  • Blown out transistors
  • Cold solder joints
  • Radio noise
  • Static

Box Modeling

Extremely realistic modeling of amplifier cabinets and speakers using convolution modeling. Classics, combos, boutique models and stacks

The plug-in goes beyond the normal boxes found in the music stores. Telephones, clock radios, sheet metal, plexiglass tubes, piano cabinets and tin cans. And a whole bunch of cabinets that don't even exist in the material world

Filters

Thirty-six sweepable filter types, including Analog, resonant, clean, saturated and more

Filters can be positioned on a realtime spectrum to set gain, resonance or bandwidth

The calssic wah sound can be achieved by using envelope triggering to drive a lowpass filter

Multiband Dynamics

To control the distortion, Trash provides a multiband compressor and noise gate to squash the peaks, silence the noise or draw out the sustain

Delay

Selection of classic lo-fi delays:

  • Tape delay with saturation and nonlinear tape machine artifacts
  • Tape-Tube delay with added tube saturation modeling
  • Classic analog delay with analog degradation and variation
  • Lo-fi digital delay with quantization noise and aliasing
